TimeTrac Event Analyzer
TimeTrac™ is a powerful tool that aids in debugging and analysis
of a complex system. The dynamic view into multiprocessor interactions
provides a step beyond traditional symbolic debuggers.
TimeTrac is a multi-process, multi-processor tool that is able to
generate and analyze an event log of the execution of the application. The
programmer instruments the application with calls to the event logging
library. When the application is run, a time-stamped record of the execution
of these calls is accumulated.
Combining the time synchronized logs of the processes in an off-line tool
enables evaluation of resource utilization, locating deadlocks, and isolation
of timing-dependent failures. It is easy to see when semaphores are active,
when processors are idle waiting for semaphores or I/O, or the time sequence
of events leading up to a failure.
